GREEN CITY MARKET TOUR — 8/13/25 LIVE EVENT
NATURALLY CHICAGO’S GREEN CITY MARKET TOUR
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 9 A.M.
FEATURING JAMES BEARD AWARD WINNING CHEFS JASON HAMMEL (LULA CAFE) and SARAH STEGNER (PRAIRIE GRASS CAFE)
Green City Market has been blazing trails in the Chicago region farmers market community since its founding in 1999, defining the Chicago foodshed, emphasizing sustainable farming practices, and leading on expanding access to healthy and delicious local food for those facing food insecurity.
Naturally Chicago invites you to join us — and Letisha "Tish" Steele, Green City's new executive director — for an up-close look at the market and its vendors. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 13 at the Market's flagship location in Chicago's Lincoln Park (1817 N. Clark Ave.), beginning at 9 a.m.
And we are thrilled that the tour will also feature two James Beard Award winning chefs with longstanding ties to Green City Market.
Sarah Stegner of Prairie Grass Cafe in north suburban Northbrook was a founding Board member of Green City Market in 1999 and continues to serve on the Board today. Along with her amazing culinary skills, Sarah is a leading chef-philanthropist (she is a co-founder of the Chicago Chefs Cook non-profit) and a strong advocate for food systems change.
Jason Hammel is Chef-Founder of Lula Cafe, the highly regarded and hugely popular restaurant in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood, which also opened in 1999. He has been purchasing beautiful ingredients from Green City vendors since he opened Lula, and also is a co-founder of the chef-driven Pilot Light food education non-profit.
Tickets for the tour are $25 with all proceeds going to the non-profit Green City Market. Capacity for the event is very limited, so reserve your space now!
