URBAN FARM TOUR AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL

5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Did we have you at "Ice Cream Social?" Awesome, that alone is reason to sign up now for our August 27 event in partnership with Star Farm Chicago — an urban farming non-profit and market that is creating opportunity and increasing access to healthy local food on the city's South Side.
But wait, there's more. The evening event will begin with a tour of the organization's flagship farm (with refreshments). And then we'll shift to the Social a few blocks away Star Farm Fresh Market, which opened last year to serve a community that lacks much access to locally produced food.
The Social will feature RoseBud Ice Cream, a rising star on the frozen dessert scene with its mess-free treats served in pouches.
Here's the "run of show" from our Star Farm friends:
5:00 p.m.: Kickoff & Farm Tour!
Location: 5132 S. Carpenter St. (Free neighborhood street parking available)
What to expect: We will gather at our largest farm plot to kick things off. Guests will be greeted with refreshing, fresh-made agua frescas while taking a guided farm tour.
Who you’ll meet: You’ll get the lay of the land with our brilliant Farm Manager Luna. Plus, our wonderful incubator farmers, Sandra and Judy, will be on-site to chat about their work and sell their latest harvests! We will spend about 30–40 minutes exploring the crops before transitioning over to the Fresh Market.
5:45 PM – 6:00 p.m.: Transition to the Fresh Market
Location: 5256 S. Ashland Ave. (Free neighborhood street parking available)
Travel: It is a quick 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from the Carpenter farm.
6:00 PM – 7:30 PM: Market Mixer & Light Bites
What to expect: The celebration continues at our Fresh Market! We will have great music playing, light bites, more agua frescas, and delicious RoseBud Ice Cream ready to enjoy. Plus, everyone will get to leave with a special fresh gift straight from our farm!
Shopping & Community: Our Fresh Market will be fully stocked and open for shopping, featuring hyper-local produce from our farms, community grocery items, fresh smoothies, and prepared foods. The Star Farm staff and the Rose Center team will be on hand to keep everything moving smoothly. While we project a 7:30 PM wrap-up, we are more than happy to let the good times roll a bit longer!
